Picking up the “Rig”

We are finally moving forward if just a tad… I am switching to full time planning and vehicle modification mode starting the end of next week!  I will be picking up the “new” diesel Landcruiser in a week and a half. I feel like once I am driving the truck we will be one step closer to our departure.

Still working out some of the kinks on the website, I am learning how to manage it as I go (with much help from Chris Lynch). I want to/will be posting reviews and videos, but we are still debating which camcorder to purchase (one among the many debates that are part of the equipment procurement process). We currently have a Nikon D60 DSLR and a Panasonic Lumix TZ5 point and shoot with a sweet 10x optical zoom (very nice for a P&S). The video camera debate is heated and frustrating.   We have narrowed it down to 2 contenders the Panasonic HDC-SD9 and the Canon Vixia HF10. Please feel free to drop us a line with any recommendations you may have.

On another note:  I wanted to post a couple of pics we took at a presentation we did for a group of 5 to 7 year olds. Man, talk about a tough crowd… if you ever want to prepare for a presentation practice on this group. A fifteen minute presentation turned into a 1 hour geography class and a thorough explanation on how to use vegetable oil in a diesel engine. I will never underestimate a 5 year old again!
