I think there are people out there that can have “life plans” or “10 year plans” and they seem to be able to follow through. I can’t seem to have a week planned out without having something go horribly wrong. I could say it is bad luck, but that would be deflecting responsibility.
I keep saying that reality likes to kick dreamers hard! We have been kicked around pretty good the last few weeks. I will spare you the details, but needless to say trip plans have changed, evolved if you wish.
No, this post is not going to be just complaining about life (but those that know me, know I am good at complaining). How can I complain when we are planning the trip of a lifetime. This post will be an update of what has happened to our planning so far…
As I mentioned plans have changed. Not really the route as much as all the ostentatious modification plans we had for the Landcruiser. Someone much wiser than us said: “Every dollar you spend on your vehicle is almost certainly, without exception, better spent on travel.” We have decided to heed to this suggestion. The budget for the Landcruiser was used up and was starting to dig into our trip budget; therefore, no more mods! We will be driving a very lightly modified 1987 Toyota Landcruiser and we are happy about it.
As far as our trip departure: We will be attending a close friends’ wedding in June so we are now shooting for a July departure. The plan is to drive around the U.S. for a couple of months, visit family and friends, check out our country’s attractions (natural and man made) and proceed south of the border sometime early Fall ’09.
Next week we will be attending Overland Expo in Prescott, Arizona. Check out their website. This will be a great event where we hope to learn a lot and have tons of fun!
Very wise! Way to go, we wish you all the best, fun and luck. We will meet you when you are down here somewhere…

Luis and Lacey… two of my favorite people. Young, traveling, smart, interesting, and full of life and the desire to make the most of it.
I hope to see you two on the road again soon, and I wish you the absolute BEST in your travels.
Be safe, have fun, and keep in touch!
