About Us

Lacey Caughey. I was born and raised in a small town in Northern California. I grew up outside of town in what we affectionately called the “boon docks”. It gave me a great sense of connection and appreciation for the outdoors that I hope to always have. I have lived in Arcata for almost nine years now, where I attended Humboldt State University. I graduated with a degree in Environmental Science with a double major in Wildland Soils and Watershed Management. I have been working for the past year and a half or so for a small consulting firm doing soil and groundwater remediation work. While I love to travel and see new places, I am also a soils nerd and love to look at a soil core almost as much as I love to travel.

Luis Enrique Getter. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and within a few months my parents and I had moved to Caracas, Venezuela. I lived in Venezuela until my early 20’s. I moved to the U.S. and shortly thereafter joined the US NAVY where I was a Hospital Corpsman. I performed duties ranging from “paramedic grunt” with the Marines to patient advocate at a civilian hospital for close to 8 years.  I later moved to Arcata, CA to attend Humboldt State University where I received a BS in Environmental Resources Engineering and an MS in BS. Well that is my life summed up… I love to travel, meet new people, experience different cultures and I really love to eat.

Tie Dog. I do not know when I was born, but Luis and Lacey rescued me from bad folk a few years ago. I am a mutt (Like Luis) and I think I am part Lab, part German short-haired pointer (some say I may be part Wookie). I love to run, I love to eat veggies and I am addicted to hunting birds and flies. Life is alright -unless I get caught eating food off the counter…oh, and  thunder, I definitely hate thunder. I have decided to stay at Marisa’s house (Luis’ sister), because I hate long drives in the car… after 3000 miles of me being sick I was dropped of at my temporary home in Florida. Here I am with Marisa’s family (Danny, Alex, Maya and Max Dog) having a blast tearing down the kitchen counter and going through the kitchen garbage whenever I can :)
