Our Plan

Wanderlust is a word that describes a strong desire to wander, to travel and explore the world.

We have wanderlust, we have it bad. “We” are: Lacey, Luis and TieDog and we have decided to succumb to our wanderlust.  In 2009 we are taking some time off to drive as far around the world as we can. Some would call it an Overland Expedition, we have called it our Lost World Expedition. We are going to “find” the world.

Our current plan is to start our expedition driving around the U.S. while getting to know this big and beautiful country a little better. We will drive with a very loose schedule (maybe two months), visit family say our farewells and drive into Mexico sometime during summer of ‘09.  From Mexico on south…

We do not believe in set itineraries (with a few exceptions), our traveling experiences in the past have been more enjoyable when he have an itinerary outline, but always “play it by ear.” Even Lao Tzu said: “A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” During our expedition we plan on meeting other travelers and residents of the communities we are visiting. We will be learning about different cultures along the way and  we must be open to new experiences and alternate destinations.

During the expedition we will be volunteering in many different communities through a group called World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farming (WWOOF).  WWOOF publishes a list of organic farms, smallholdings and gardeners that welcome volunteer help.  In return for the help, WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation.  If you have gone “WWOOF’ing” please feel free to drop us a line and tell us about it.
