Yeah, Nicaragua was for me the most difficult with the cops. As soon as they see foreign plates, they try everything.
But Honduras was fine on my trip, probably because I didn’t follow the Pan American…
Anyway, great to see you guys have fun on the road and hope to meet you somewhere. I will be in Dubai tomorrow.

Thanks for the info on El Sal. I have been twice and found El Tunco to be one of my favorite spots. Great surfing, great local hosts! I especially loved a little coffee shop called Dale Dale, with free internet and great treats! It is owned by a lovely couple who are giving back to the community by trying to raise money to build a playground for the local children. It is great to see businesses in poorer communities giving back! I found my self stopping in every day for a coffee and breakfast which provided a great opportunity to meet other tourists as well as locals.

It really would have been easier if we just paid up front and gone about our merry way. This is not a reflection of the country of Honduras. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people… the country just happens to have a very corrupt establishment.

Guess there’s good reason that I flew to Honduras rather than drive. It’s a sad commentary on the country and where it’s come since 2003. So glad that you made it out in one piece regardless of the price. Take care an keep posting!
